About This Site

Honest reviews.
No agenda. No sponsors.

Bakersfield has a cannabis problem — and it's not what you think. This site exists because someone needed to say it straight.

Who I Am

I'm a Bakersfield local who has spent years buying, trying, and working in the cannabis industry here. I've seen it from every angle — as a customer, as someone who's worked inside these operations, and as someone who genuinely cares about what people are actually putting in their bodies.

This site is my way of cutting through the noise. Every review is based on what I actually paid, what I actually smoked, and what I actually think. No brand deals. No free product. No inflated scores.

The Truth About Bakersfield Cannabis

Bakersfield doesn't have a single licensed cannabis dispensary. Not one. And that's not an accident — it's the result of years of deliberate political gridlock driven by people who want to control the market before it opens.

Mike Maggard, Leticia Perez, and David Abassi have spent years blocking every ballot measure and licensing effort that would bring legal dispensaries to Kern County. Each one wants a piece of the eventual monopoly, so they shoot each other down every election cycle — and nothing gets done. The community suffers. The black market fills the vacuum.

🚨
What this means for you Every shop operating in Bakersfield right now is either unlicensed, operating in a legal gray zone, or flat-out black market. Even shops listed on Weedmaps. Even the ones that look professional. There is no legal retail cannabis in Bakersfield.

What I've Seen Working in These Shops

I've worked for the gangster-run shops. I know how they operate. Here's the reality:

  • Product gets renamed constantly. The same bag ships under five different strain names depending on what sounds good that week.
  • Moldy and mold-adjacent product gets sold. If it looks decent, it goes out the door.
  • Over-nuted flower — plants pushed hard with nutrients at the end, burns black, harsh on the lungs. They'll sell it anyway.
  • Nobody is testing anything. There are no lab results. The THC percentages are made up.
  • It's about moving product and making money. Your health is not part of the equation.
⚠️
Weedmaps isn't a safety guarantee Being listed on Weedmaps does not mean a shop is legal or that the product is safe. Many black market operations maintain active Weedmaps listings. A listing is not a license.

How to Spot Black Market Product

  • No lab results, or lab results that can't be verified with a real license number
  • Flower that burns black or leaves a lot of dark ash
  • Unusually harsh smoke, chemical taste, or headache after smoking
  • Packaging with no traceable brand, no batch number, no compliance label
  • Prices that seem too good — there's usually a reason
  • The shop can't tell you where the product came from or who grew it

What I Do Recommend

  • Order from licensed California delivery services that operate legally — I review those here too
  • Check that any brand you buy has verifiable Metrc/BCC compliance labels
  • Buy from sources that can show actual COAs (Certificates of Analysis) from accredited labs
  • Pay attention to how product burns, tastes, and feels — your body will tell you
Why I review delivery services Licensed cannabis delivery is legal in California and operates under the same regulations as brick-and-mortar dispensaries. It's currently one of the only legitimate ways to buy tested, compliant cannabis in Bakersfield. I review the ones I've used so you know which ones are worth your money.

Why This Site Exists

Because nobody else is doing it. There's no local publication, no consumer advocacy, no accountability. Shops operate with zero oversight and customers have no way to know what they're actually getting.

I'm not here to be anyone's enemy. I'm here to give Bakersfield cannabis consumers the honest information they deserve — so you can make smarter decisions about what you're spending your money on and putting in your body.

Every review on this site is real. Every score is earned. If a product is bad, I'll say it. If it's fire, I'll say that too.
