The loudest jar I have opened this year, and priced accordingly.
The name is not marketing. Open it and the first thing you get is solvent, sharp and chemical and genuinely close to a marker pen, and then a soapy floral note arrives behind it and the whole thing turns into something you keep going back to smell.
It is the most distinctive nose in current circulation and it is the reason to buy this rather than the test result. Twenty-nine per cent is a number. The smell is an experience, and no other strain on this list is confusable with it.
The high is heavy but stays lucid for longer than the potency suggests. First hour is bright and quite talkative, then it drops into the body and settles. Not a work strain.
Sixty-five is a genuinely difficult price and I am not going to pretend otherwise. This is the one jar on the list where I understand paying it and would not argue with anyone who refused.
Scorecard
Five scores out of ten. The overall is their average and is never set by hand, so it can never disagree with its own parts.
About Permanent Marker
A Seed Junky cultivar and one of the highest-testing strains in wide California circulation. The nose genuinely resembles a marker pen, which is the identifying feature and unmistakable when real. Named Leafly Strain of the Year in 2023.
